Jan Albert van Eyken
1823-1868
The Dutchman Jan Albert van Eyken was taught by Mendelssohn at the Leipzig conservatory. The latter recommended him to continue his organ studies with the Dresden court organist Johann Gottlob Schneider (1789-1864). On completion of his studies Van Eyken took up positions as organist in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Elberfeld (Wuppertal).
