Maîtrise du Conservatoire Populaire de Musique de Genève

Choir

Ensembles: Maîtrise du Conservatoire Populaire de Musique de Genève

The children’s choir of the Geneva Conservatory accepts children and youths from the ages of 7 to 16 who have decided upon singing as the focal point of their musical education. The Choir today consists of 180 schoolboys and schoolgirls. It is regularly invited to perform concerts in Geneva and vicinity, working with various conductors and orchestras. Moreover, the Choir collaborates with the Grand Théâtre in Geneva for all operas in which a children’s choir appears. Alongside this, the Choir works on its own repertoire with equal voices, including works of L. Viadana, G.B. Pergolesi, F. Mendelssohn, G. Fauré, F. Poulenc and B. Britten, as well as Gregorian chant and contemporary composers (A. Markeas, N. Bolens). The Choir, founded in 1974, is presently conducted by Magali Dami and Serge Ilg.
